The Internet and the Social Communities That Rise There

Since discovery of internet, many things are happening and the way of life of people is changing to become simpler than in the past. The internet has made the whole world one big village where one to one conversations are made much easier than ever before. Well, the world is now a whole village and people are now starting to form communities/sub group.

These social communities are formed based on the interest people share and it is almost the same as the sub groups formed to discuss selected matter among people of the same caliber. The only difference between internet and physical community is that the community conducts itself online and also because there is no limitation to the number of people in an online community based on their geographical placement.

Online Social Communities

To set the record straight, social communities is not a recent thing because it was there even before the coming up of blogs. The father of social media that is Facebook is responsible for the formation of the first online communities. In layman’s language they are called groups which are formed to serve a particular purpose. Chances are that almost all the internet users belong to a certain online social community.

Right now social communities in the internet have expanded their wingspan since the discovery of online social community. We now have websites, blogs and the upcoming social media platforms.

Structure of Online Social Communities

The first thing is that an online community structure does not generally limit the people who joined unless it is programmed to. It is rumored that the internet community can actually surpass the community on the real world (the physical world).

In an online community just like the normal community people will have different views as well as their behavior. Take the example of a blog in the internet. People will read the content differently and here is where the structure comes in. there are those who will read all the content in the blog and will never miss while there are those who will only concentrate on one topic from your post and will never read outside that topic. An online community like Watt pad will involve readers of every niche. There are those that will be glued to all the books while others will come simply to read books on a particular category for example romance.

Another type of structure is the Whats App kind of structure where a group involves participation of everybody for ideas. Here there will be the readers also known as lurkers. These kinds of people will only read and never contribute. We then have those who will only talk occasionally and then we have the 1% people who will always talk.

Social Media Sites for Business

Do not mistake social media sites with social networking sites. Okay, they maybe the same but then the words mean an absolutely different story. If you have a business, you can use the social media sites like Whats App and Skype to advertise your products instead of joining social networking sites only. Business is better when you are diverse.

Conclusion

Being part of something is always something human beings yearn for. Internet has really helped people to form communities and help each other out and this is regardless of what position you are in the online social community. Aside from socializing you can also use these social media sites for business and boost your earnings.
